This means that your pregnancy extends more than your expected date of your delivery by two or more weeks. This has something to do with your mom's pregnancy. If your mom was also overdue during her pregnancy then chances are you might face the same problem.
Premature Labour: Possibly Hereditary
A study has shown that early labour runs in families. However, there are other health reasons also that can give you labour pains before your due date of delivery. Your family genes can also put you on the risk of early labour. Ask your doctor if you mom has early labour.
A Long, Difficult Labor: Possibly Hereditary
If your mom had a long labour due to small size of the pelvis, then chances are you might be having almost the same pelvis size as your mom. There are some other factors also that can prolong the labour and ultimately you have to go for C section. However, your family history of prolonged labour also plays a role.
